5 out of 5 stars Never met a Japanese young person who would not read this.   February 25, 2006

I am glad to see this on Amazon in the US. It has been a good seller in Japan. Manga is the literature of choice for millions in Japan, from children to adults. I think I heard that half of all the books sold in Japan are in the distinctive comic book style called "manga." This book is 800 pages of black and white comic book style stories from the Bible from Genesis through the letters of St. Paul. I have never met a Japanese young person who would not read this, from children to youth to young adults. It is a great way to introduce a young person to the Bible. I always recommend it for the host parents of Japanese exchange students as a good gift to the student.

Im a beginner Nihongo student (3 months) and knew this was going to be above my reading level (I only know 250 kanji) but got it any way to motivate myself. There's furigana next to some kanji --- so it's a fun way to build vocabulary.

5 out of 5 stars Love it for our 8 year old!   October 19, 2007

We have the version that starts at the birth of Jesus and finishes with rising from the dead. Our 8 year old loves it and reads it with relish. Being Catholic, reading the bible the way that other Christian religions do (daily) is not so common.....at least in my experience and I went to Catholic school. This is a great way to get kids excited about the stories.

5 out of 5 stars Great product   August 14, 2008

We gave this to our foreign exchange student during her visit. It was well received... Let's pray now that she reads it! Of course I cannot validate the translation itself, because it is in Japanese - but I saw her flipping through the pages very quickly, and with great intent.

5 out of 5 stars Great way in familiarizing with Bible.   May 14, 2009

I bought this Manga Bible for my children so that they can understand more about the stories in the Bible. I read a few pages and thought they are precise and is easier to understand than just reading the Bible. And they would probably read through it than the regular Bible, hopefully.
I think this would make a great gift for new Christians who can read Japanese.
